Kevin, I don't own a digital camera so I can't post a photo of my main unit right now (I borrowed one to get the photo I posted). For mounting, I removed the suction cups, glued a strip of black plastic to increase surface area for double-sided foam tape and then attached the clip. For track events I remove the main unit (leave the remote alone) and the clip and power source remain above my rear-view mirror.
I'm sure the tint reduces some effectiveness, but its good enough for me (multiple saves so far) and very hard to see (especially from the outside).
To reduce falses, I reprogrammed the V1 following the instructions on the valentine website to eliminate alerts for x-band. (Apparently, the radar guns in California do not use x-band). This reprogramming has done wonders in reducing falses.

V1 can easily be hardwired up to and near the rear view mirror by any local and reputable stereo shop. Hardwiring is the only way to go. You can plug and unplug in an instant (i.e. as the officer approaches) and you don't have the distraction of the cord making it less visible to those who may have laws against radar detectors. My has been in place for over a year with just the suction cups. Here in Illinois the temp changes can be drastic but I've noticed no effect on the suction cups. 2 Thumbs up on the V1. For reference, I have "hung" my V1 on the passenger visor as near the center of the car as possible and so as to not interfere with the rear view mirror. Seems to work fine in my Cabriolet.
I like the mini-dispay installation above but I "stuck" my remote to the face of the tack in the 6 o'clock position with the double sided tape that came with it. It is comfortably "out of sight" except when it lights up, so the distraction factor is minimal and it does not interfere with the tack readings since there is nothing on that part of the gauge.
