Default Imobilizer question

When the battery is replaced, does the imobilizer retain it's code or does it have to be reprogramed? Can the battery be purchased at Radio Shack or must it be bought at a Porsche dealer? Does any one know the battery number? thanks Mike W

What battery are you talking about. The remote battery?

If the remote battery - no worries, just replace it and all is well.

Replacing the car battery also doesn't affect the imobilizer.

Mike,

Replacing the battery inside the remote will not cause a loss of the code. The battery is available anywhere. Its the same one used in a lot of overhead garage door openers. I think the number is "A23".

I have had best service life from the Duracell brand for this application.
