CV-Joint Boot - Urgent
Bleeding my brakes today in preparation for a timetrial at Buttonwillow Raceway next weekend and I notice my left CV Joint Boot is split and splattering grease all over the inside of my rim!!!
Assuming I can even squeeze the car into my local independent this week, what can I expect to pay for CV-boot replacement?
Thanks all!
Edward

Disclaimer: All of my CV joint experience is based on VW and Audi vehicles not Porsche.
CV joints and boots are not an unusual service item for VWs and Audis. Is that case for Porsches? I don't recall hearing much about CV joints on this board.
Don't know about the cost but if it's been split for more than a mile or two I'd be inclined to replace the joint. Dirt has probably gotten in there. Listen carefully for any rhythmic squeaks or noises.
In order to replace a non-split boot (OEM style for Audis and VWs) you have to remove the CV joint from the hub in order to fit the boot over it and replacing the joint at that point saves a whole bunch in labor. However, the Porsche joint might be sufficiently expensive to make it worthwhile to wait and see if it did indeed went bad.
Hope it helps. Let us know how much the parts and labor are for this.

Yes, I have had the CV boots replaced on my 80k 95 993.
I'll pull up my receipts and get the cost, though the repairs occured during an engine out valve job.
