993 Transmission Rebuild
#16
I recently broke a shift fork and decided to regear and rebuild my lsd. I agree, completely changes the car. I went with guards gears and lsd rebuild kit. My stuff is really short as I track the car a lot. My lsd was completely gone and as others have stated, it’s an immediate difference on the street and on the track. Matt is awesome and I am very happy with results. His gears do make some fun race car noises as they are meant for that, so if that’s not for you, I think Porsche gt3 gears would be a bit more quiet. Lots of ratios to choose from still.

i will do the re-gear only with 2-3-4-5 gt gears (gt3)

Surprised no one mentioned putting in an 8:32 R&P and dropping the entire gear set.
Here's the 7cup gearing... Note the cups run 8:32 R&P's (4.0) versus street 993 which is 9:31 (3.44) along with differences in rev limit and tire size.
Cup 8:32 R&P
7Cup gearing with 993 bits - 9:31 R&P, 6700 red line, 285/30 tire dia

For gear-heads only. Here’s the current plan for the 5 speed gear box in my 964. 1st and 2nd gear follow the RS gear ratios, and we tightened up the rest. Guard has the first (with drive shaft) and second gears, and hoping they have the rest. Steel synchros from Porsche Motorsports.

@Holger3.2 do you have anymore info or pics

Holger -- ...do you have tracks with straights long enough that you get very far into 6th?
Now with the latest upgrade (ITP and different cams) the engine revs to 8,000 rpm and the table changes to data as shown above. Now its at the edge on both circuits .....

Holger -- yea... that's what I would've guessed. Typically full track boxes for cars around 330-400 or so to the ground, 150mph or so in top gear at red line is fine. ...unless you're driving high bank oval stuff like Daytona.

You can remove the oil cooler.
Theoretically also if you do the cutting like Martin, but i have no experience with that, so ....
Pretty good price btw ...
wait, ohhhh, that's an add from a German Company! There is stated AT, that means 'Austausch' in German, means 'in exchange' for your gearbox!! And i guess they expect a CUP gearbox in exchange ...
