Post OT: Animated avatars

I animated my avatar...

( Yes, it's a slow day here at work.. )

I used a product called GIF MOVIE GEAR and it took me about 15 minutes.

Hmmmm - you've given me a good idea! I've got some video of my car at an autocross. I can extract a sequence of frames and animate those. Now all I have to do is spin in front of the camera and have one heck of an avatar!

These animated avitars are cool! When I saw Dan's, lights went off in my head. I'll be staying up late tonight...

By the way, I have access to Corel 8 (i.e. - pretty old and antiquated), and with it, you can pull frames from .mpg, .avi, .mov, etc files and organize them into an animated .gif file. I'm assuming this filetype is what is used for the new avitars. Is this a new feature for the updated server code? I must have missed that post.

If anyone needs help pulling frames and creating simple animations, let me know. I may be able to help.

One question. How do you get the gif to rennlist to be used as an avatar? Or does the gif have to be hosted by another site?

Thanks in advance.

Cool

What do you think of my first-ever animated GIF? Pretty cool avatar. I may remove some frames or otherwise tinker with it, but I think it's pretty cool!

Wink

Now I knew that eventually a good reason for my upgrading from dial-up connection to broadband would arrive!
