Question 993 Valuation

I have an opportunity to buy a 1994 993 Carrera Coupe (with Tiptronic, power seats, power sunroof, etc.) from a P-Car dealer for $45K. It has had one owner, has been dealer maintained, comes with a warranty, and has less than 7,000 miles on the clock.

The car is beautiful, and buying and driving it would not be an effort on my part .

Are there any particular problems I should be looking for with a car of this vintage? What is the protocol for doing PPI with a car from a dealership? Finally, any comments on the price?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

The dealership should be perfectly happy for you to get a PPI done by an independent Porsche technician (Not an OPC). But get a PPI, regardless. Better safe than sorry.
No particular issues to look out for except maybe the wiring harness.
Some have mentioned that in auto 2nd gear it feels like it might stall. That should not happen.
Good luck.

Hey C.J.

Good luck with your Pcar purchase.
The car has low mileage which is nice. Off the top of my head, I would say that there is some room for negotiation on that price.
According to edmunds, <a href="http://www.edmunds.com." target="_blank">www.edmunds.com.</a>
If the car was traded in, the dealer only paid 26-30k for the car.
You should be able to get the car for about 35k.
Don't be afraid to negotiate the price down. Book value is not very high on the car.
Kelly's blue book is also showing a trade in value of about $27K.
The nice thing about getting the car from an authorized dealership means someone traded it in and took a huge hit.
From my limited experience I am going to say, there is a lot of room for negotiation on that price.
You might want to look up the values.

Of course for a car like a 993 book value is not a bible. But it is a good guide to help value the car you are buying from a dealership.
Good luck.

45k is a bit much but you wil pay for teh car given its history. I get a 95 for $38K with 46k blk/blk. This was the vbest deal I could find after a ppi. No matter what do a ppi or walk....

I think the costs for tehse cars are much higher than any of the kbb/edmunds/ or other valuations. I looked at excellence to get a feel for them. I couldnt find anyone that was asking less than $40k for a reasonable mileage 95 993. mid 30's on such a car is a major deal if ppi checks out...
