Default Toe Control Arm

Has anyone replaced their rear Toe Control Arm. The bushing in mine (left-rear) is cracked and someone told me you have to replace the entire control arm.. Is this true and does anyone have a link to a DIY video or written instructions?

Thanks.

Yes, pretty straight forward. I replaced mine with Tarrett getting rid of the rubber bushing but Elephant has similar. Of course you can always just replace with OEM.

If your bushing is cracked, the ball joint is likely toast. Technically, you can replace just the bushing by pressing it out and installing monoball bushings from Rennline, but there is no way to change the ball joint.

Realistically, all your rear arms are likely original to the car. Three weeks ago I changed all my rear arms and almost every ball joint and bushing was shot. Given you will have to get an alignment anyway, it would make sense to change them all.

That's what I was afraid of... One cracked bushing on the left toe control arm and, according to the dealer, they are recommending installing new A arms and toe control arms. That plus the alignment and I'm looking at over $5k. Very disappointed that these rubber components can't be replaced individually.

Thanks for the response...

Realistically if the toe arm bushing is cracked, the camber, KT, and A arm bushings are also toast. Ball joints are little different. Typically, the toe arm ball joint goes bad first, then the A arm, then the KT arm, and lastly the camber arm. When doing my suspension, I tried to get away with not changing the camber arms only to find the original arms on the car (date stamped 2nd week of 1994!) on the car. $700 later, I have new camber arms. I'm not sure how deep you want to go, but I have a full set of Rennline monoball arms with booties (toe, camber, KT) for sale. These were put on the car and then removed because I decided to go with RS arms. I am selling them for $1000 ($1600 new from Rennline without booties).
