Since this (and that carbon deposit issue) are smog related. Is it possible to dumb all that smog junk out, once and for all?

Here in Florida we don't have smog test so that wouldn't be a problem.

How about race cars (Kim, are you listening?), do they have this smog crap?
How about European cars? At least in the old days, European cars didn't have this kind of junk in them.

When my wiring harness was replaced, the dealer replaced the check valve, too. The service manager said it was bad. He only told me about this at the time I arrived to pick up my car, not while they working on it. I think this is a money making scam to offset some of the expense of changing out our recalled wiring harnesses. Do I sound bitter?

As my appt. date gets closer to the dreaded dealer visit, how many of you who had this valve replaced, had to pay for it? It seems the good-will repair policy varies from dealer to dealer?
