I has the same problem for a decade plus. I would “catch” the top and lower it by hand. A few years ago I had a top cable failure. After having the cables replaced the top closed correctly.
My top guy shortened my cables when he replaced my top, as he claims it would be more reliable and operate more smoothly. If you run into issues in the future, that might assist cab owners.
My top operated similarly except from the 11:00 position. I took my car to a repair shop specializing in Porsche convertible top repairs, not a Porsche dealer and not a Porsche convertible top upholsterer. My mechanic did something with the motors and/or the transmission in the rear and repaired the problem. I asked, and he didn't replace the drive cables, although I don't know what he did to correct the top. My top operates electrically. This repair is one left to an expert. If your top is not properly aligned, you can damage your convertible top frame. I'm sorry I can't specifically tell you what was done to correct the problem, but it is correctable.

That would seem to be the logical place to start. I will be checking mine soon.
Thanks
