Post Engine wiring harness update for UK

Guys, just received my recall letter from Porsche Cars headed "Product Improvement Campaign W301".

Seems that they require to see the car for an hour to assess the situation (check a few part numbers) and if required book in for replacement - all at Porsche expense. For those who have already suffered "meltdown" or have paid to have harness replaced this will be reimbursed on production of a receipt to an OPC. <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Thumbs up

Hi PJC,

Thanks for the update. I'll see if mine comes this week. Did you buy your car from an OPC or register your details with one?

Thanks,

David

PJC,

Does your recall mention anything about what year cars are affected? It was my understanding that this only affected 1994-5 cars??

My car was purchased from a non-franchised dealer, knowing the potential problem with the loom (from Rennlist correspondence) I quickly returned the registration card to Porsche Cars at Reading - the letter from them indicated they had picked up that my car required a check from this communication. It is not necessarily YEARS that are critical, it is the part number of the wiring loom. If I had a 1996 car I would check with an OPC - but then....

Unhappy

I got my call up when I phoned an OPC. Porsche Cars had promised to update their records when I contacted them but they "forgot"... so do phone a dealer and quote your chassis number. I'll let you know how I get on, once I have my car back from the body shop.

Cheers,

David

Had my 96MY TT checked out today, no problems at all, apparently it just missed the old defective harness material.

I am back to feeling very happy.

I have just heard from an opc (AFN, Guildford) that the campaign (W301) only concerns cars up to 'T' chassis, i.e. WPOZZZ99zTs...

Mine is in the clear.

Hi Tim,
My car is also a LHD import from Germany
HR Owen Hatfield did not even raise the issue.
I would find another OPC or query it with Porsche UK if I were you. At the end of the day a Porsche is a Porsche irrespective of the side on which the wheel resides.

As for my car : the harness did not have a serial number on it. The service manager told me that he had been instructed to change a harness if this were the case. He will check this and get back to me on Monday with a date.

Best of luck and dont give up easily.
Tito.
