C4S track prep
I've decided that my 993 C4S needs to start earning its keep, so it's been setup for the track with new suspension, tires, and fire extinguisher. The harness bar was also installed, but the harnesses will have to wait until after the DE in Pueblo this weekend. Here's a pic that I especially like:
The suspension is the H&R sport coilover kit, which I think the shop got from Rennsport, but I'm not certain. It's set to lower the car about an inch front and rear, and could go lower if I desired. I doubt that I'd want it much lower as the FPB is bound to get a workout as it is. I'm going to learn how to adjust things, but for this DE will leave it as the shop set it up as they typically do a good job.
The tires are Kumho Ecsta V700s, in the same 225/40-18 and 285/30-18 sizes as the original tires, mounted on the stock wheels. I've used these tires on my Boxster and they're very nice as far as DOT competition tires go. They may not last long, but it's better than tearing up some expensive Michelins, Pirellis, etc.!
The track will be the real test, but on the street it is much better than before. Cornering is flatter, turn-in is better, and the grip is spectacular. The tires are quiet, although bumps from expansion strips may be a bit louder than before. The ride is much more compliant than I expected, although not quite as cushy as the stock setup. I'll take the better handling over a cushy ride any day.
Here's a comparison of the car, with the pics on the left taken earlier this year and those on the right today:
There are more pics in the "Track Prep" link in the Carrera section on my site, which you can get to from the link in my signature.
I'll post a report and pics from the DE on Monday. Thanks to all who have posted the information on prepping these cars for the track!

Jeff,
Thanks. I haven't put too many miles on it yet, but will be driving around 150 miles to Pueblo tomorrow for the DE, covering lots of different streets, highways, etc. I should have a pretty good idea of what it's like after this trip.
Here's my impressions from the 20 or so miles I drove today:
- On the highway the ride is very smooth, at least as good as before.
- On the city streets around here, which are pretty bad in spots, the ride is firm but not jarring. There may be a bit more noise on some bumps, but this could be due to the tires rather than the suspension.
- The car doesn't "squat" on curves and under acceleration like it used to. Not that it was bad before, but after I'd put H&Rs on the Boxster, I realized how much softer the stock 993 suspension was.
- The car has some negative camber that makes the steering more sensitive and very quick. My Boxster is also setup like this and I like it, but some folks might find it a bit skittish.
- On expansion strips there is a more pronounced noise, which I think may be due to the tires than the suspension. The Kumhos on my Boxster were similar when new, but have quieted down with some use.
Phil,
It might be more than in inch, especially in the back. I'll have to check it against a stock 993 to know for sure.

I'd be really interested in hearing your story and others out there. I am going to a Road One Racing (Willow Springss)event Monday in my c4s.
Other than the RSR muffler, new front pads/rotors and rear tires I have not done anything to the car since purchasing 2 months ago.
I would love to add the pss-9 setup but am trying to justify having 2 P-cars to my wife (not to mention the $1,500 for brakes, muffler and event)
