I did the install last night and I just wanted to add a tip. Connect your trickle charger to the battery cables BEFORE you disconnect the cables from the battery, that way the computer will not know that the battery has been changed. You will not have to reset the radio and you will not have to do the ten minute idle routine.

My red top died after sitting around for 3 weeks, even though it was only a year old. Finally bought the Sears trickle charger to remedy the situation (esp now that I'm travelling a lot). Although I got the Optima from CostCo per Rennlist info, getting the replacement under warranty (the battery was completely kaput) from CostCo was a real pain since I was no longer a member. Finally had to get it verified at a Optima dealer (Sears) and have them call Optima to have the replacement shipped out to me. Don't know why they just don't let the dealer do the replacement and credit the dealer. Might save them shipping costs.
