No, the VIN does not distinguish between Carrera and Carrera 4. It just tells us that this is a Coupe rather than a Cabriolet or a Targa. Also, the Carrera 4 should have a silver plastic shift pattern insert on top of the shifter.

So the next logical step is asking if any one of you local guys could reccommend a local place for a PPI.

carfax's are highly over-rated and far from accurate. Both of my cars I ran during frequent free carfax deals and they were incomplete.

Default TruSpeed Car

Agro 1 did indeed buy a car from them. He took it to Hergie's (Hergersheimer's Motorsports, Lake Forest, CA) for the PPI. When some substantial items needed fixing, Truspeed stepped up to the plate and paid to have them fixed. Agro 1 is now not so Agro anymore...rummor has it he is changing his handle to Mellow 1! Now this is only a rumor!

Martin - That'll never happen kiddo However, I am very happy with my car.

}{arlequin - I have been meaning to do a full write up detailing my experience with Truspeed, I have just been too busy lately. In short, they are great guys, very honest and not at all looking to screw anyone. I believe they recognize how invaluable it is to keep a good rep with the P-Car crowd. Even more impressive was their willingness to make me happy. The car I bought needed a $5000 valve job which they took care of - very solid. I'd reccommend them to anyone looking for a very clean car because that is pretty much all they have.

Thanks Agro. From this thread and from their responses directly, everything that's been said about them checks out.

A little OT, how do you guys feel about lease vehicles?

IMHO, lease vehicles are just like rentals. Run them in to the ground and when the lease is up, give it back. My buddy has a new 350Z that he leased and he beats it up. This has been my experience with most people who lease cars.
