I thought I posted this before but it did not show up. I'll try and rephrase again. Something fishy going on here with the forum and posting...anyway

yes, he required a cashiers check to get them ordered sooner or to wait 12 days for a personal check to clear. I ended up receiving them 2 months later after being promised 3 weeks. I recently ordered another set of BBS wheels (not Joe's GT2 wheels but the correct wheels for a narrow body) and got them from TRG in 1 week, no delivery issues, no excuses, no fit issues, and no cash up front, just a credit card and a satisfied customer. Go figure.....

Kary
This is starting to get petty......I requested and you agreed to prepayment in full for BBS GT2 custom wheels that I ordered directly from my source at BBS in GERMANY. The wheels were brand new and 100% perfect and fit your 993.

Any vendor or provider of services must protect themselves as if you or any customer decides to CANCEL an order for any reason.....that vendor or service provider is stuck with "special order" merchandise that can be hard to impossible sell.

2 years have elapsed since you got your BBS wheels and now your posting "pot shots" at me alluding to poor customer service on Rennlist.....it doesnt make sense.

RM Ellis- I have no idea why you could be bitter.
Your shop called to say ONLY ONE of your 993 Fabspeed tips did not line up acceptably.

Solution Fabspeed shipped 2 brand new 993 tips down there as replacements as soon as we could. We were having a very hard time keeping 993 Maxflo exhaust systems on the shelf and in stock and all systems come with tips included. I explained this to your Porsche shop and they said ship when you can. Maybe no-one mentioned this to you but it wa bought from one of our dealers which was sold to your Porcshe store......therefore there was 3 layers of passed on communication.

Your Porsche shop didnot want your car to be down during the summer driving season and mentioned that you were happy to keep driving and it was no problem for us to catch up on production. I also offered and stated that I would send 2 brand new tips instead of just one replacement tip.

Please remember that they could have sent to single bad tip back to Fabspeed to be checked/fixed........ BUT you would have been without a car. Your shop and I didnt want that and they told me you were okay driving the car and we shipped shortly thereafter. This was over 7 months ago.

When we got the tips back we mounted them on a car and they fit perfectly and there must have been a problem with the Porsche factory clamps that retain the tips on your 993.

As a gesture of fellow Porsche goodwill-- I would like to offer both of you guys a free Fabspeed Motorsport Carrera CUP 993 airbox coverlid for your 993s. Retail $175 and your for free.
Let me know -offline- and have a great day!

Back to the topic...

Sputnik, what's your budget?? ANd what's your application?? Are you looking for peak HP increases, or more torque at lower revs or what??

If you have reasonable amounts to spend, why not realise some 'real', engineered gains (BTW, I am not saying you won't get gains with Steve's chip) - look at replacing the DME with a MoTeC or similar, higher duty injectors, MAP sensor, throttle pot etc etc. Without opening the engien you will realise some real, noticable improvements. However, it won't be a scheap as a new chip!

While I can't speak about the experience of others, my personal experience with Joe Fabiani has been excellent. I've purchased an exhaust system and other parts. Joe has spent plenty of time on the phone with me answering questions and discussing installation. I've referred several friends and Rennlister's to him and they have had similar experiences.

In addition, the quality of parts I've received has been top notch.

My 2 cents.

MC

Joe - Maybe someday you'll be elevated from the position of Rennlist whipping boy.

O.K. - what the hell, I have watched Joe get beaten on this board many times without saying anything. I too had a good experience with Fabspeed. I ordered his MaxFlo mufflers for my previous 993. We enjoyed them and I was actually kind of bummed to see them go when I sold the car. Their muffler tips are like works of art.

I have a very simple question to the customers of FabSpeed (sorry for the exclusion Joe). Each of us has had different experiences with Joe, some good, some great, some ok, and some bad. H2ONOO made the statement that some day Joe will stop being the Rennlist whipping boy. Why is it that Joe is a whipping boy on this forum? Other than Huntley Racing I have not seen any other vendors getting whipped (if you can use that term) so regularly. Wouldn't Huntley then be a whipping boy as well by H2ONOO's reference?

It would seem to me there is a reason and it is not arbitrary nor manufactured, but reality to customers such as us.

Back on the old 993/996 Rennlist board &, as I recall, early in the life of this board, there were instances in which Joe, based on IP addresses, was accused of having made complimentary posts about his products using psuedonyms, presumably to intentionally mislead readers. I believe there was even one where a Joe alias responded to another Joe alias. He also posted what amounted to ads for his products without identifying the poster (himself) as having an affiliation with Fabspeed, also w/questionable intent.

He was caught in a series of very public and very heated threads. Joe never denied the allegedly deceitful posts & refused to apologize despite a number of polite (& some not so polite) invitations to do so. The episode resulted in a period of Joe's de facto banishment from Rennlist & left a bad taste for many Rennlisters which apparently still lingers.

Joe (or others) - if my recollection is in error, please don't hesitate to add corrections.

Due to my pro racing experience and also a lack of wanting to make someone else look bad, I must stick with who I feel has the most experience with Performance Chips. I feel this is Autothority. You guys must remember what kind of catastrophe we could be talking about here. Be safe on the computer end especially with a 993. Work on your Exhaust and Intake airflow numbers. The only true way to know is through the Dyno figures and I have not been that impressed, due to our very poor CA gasoline. Detonation Kills!

TCallas,

Yep... and I can point you to three shop owners that HEARD the detonation being created in Twin Turbos with the chips from that company....

No Thanks

Talk to Steve Weiner about some of these chips that are available.

TCallas:

...is that you Tony?? If so, maybe you recall that speed yellow C2S you and Ray inspected for me (yellow wheels, dials, aerokit); I ended up not buying it (owner sold it to Rusnack) but want to thank you and Ray again for all the time we spent together on the car. I learned a lot from both of you.
Thanks,

Luis
