Post Rear Rattle on bumps

Hi Guys,
After, I got the Wiring harness changed, I seem to notice a anoying rattle sound coming from the rear of the car.( Sound like it is from the back seats) but I can not trace it. It only appears on bumps on the road.
Any guesses?

Try checking the engine heat shields, they have a habit of corroding across the fixing tabs leaving the shields "floating". In particular the two small shields over the CATS.

May not be the problem but this can lead to rattling noises coming from the rear.

I can only back up what PJC has said because my heat shields are doing exactly the same thing.

I had my wife sit in the back while I drove, she claims it was the rear window. I only hear it on the passenger site rear when I hit a bump or rough roads.

Is there a remedy for this.

kadeer,

Could it be more of a "creaking" noise caused by the rear window frame flexing?

This is a common problem and there are many posts on the specific solution. Easy fix. This is an easy noise to eliminate by doing the "foam rope and Pedros" fix...

If it is the heat shields, is there a DIY?

Does anyone have a pic of this? Trying to figure out what I'm looking for.

NOTE: This is revived from using SEARCH, where I started before I asked a question about my particular rear wheel area passenger side rattle.

Just cured the same problem on my car turned out to be the rear passenger side wheel well liner. Careful refitting and the rattle has gone - when you remove the liner you will see the heat shields so you can check these for rattles at the same time.

All the best.

Thx. Will check out ASAP...
Do you need to take the wheel off to get the liner off? Don't have car with me at moment, and just trying to plan a good time to undertake this.

Yes you will need to jack up the car and remove the wheel.

I have a rear rattle too - Its the round holders for around the rear wiper on the inside. One is loose and rattles over bumps. I don't know how to fix it, other than super glue it to the other bits but i'm not sure thats a good idea. Wierd though how it bothers me less now that i know where its coming from!

Any ideas?

Ajit;
