Default Oil Change Service Part Numbers

My cost for an oil change with a local shop has just jumped up to where it doesn't make sense to send it out anymore. So, I'm about to order what I need to change the oil on my '97 C2S and a bit confused on the part numbers; via a search, I found the following part numbers:

993.107.203.02
993.207.201.02

However, Robin's site indicates the following:

993 107 203 02 Engine oil filter
993 207 201 01 Oil tank oil filter

Which is correct?

What else do I need & what are the part numbers?

Also, where is the best (cheapest) place to order these items? My plan is to order several of each filter, several air filters, etc... to stock the shelves.

Thanks much.

Sunset porsche is a good place to start

http://www.sunsetimports.com/sunsetparts.php

Pelican Parts has a maintenance kits (gaskets, filters (oil, gas, air), plugs, dists and rotors etc etc etc)

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...911kit_pg1.htm

I've had probs with Pelican's execution.. very friendly and knowledgeable folks, but both times I've ordered from them they've given me the wrong parts... they moved to a new facility so they may have been working out some bugs. YMMV

No affiliation with either, just my $0.01 (I'm on a budget)

Blackcat,

Thanks much for the help - how often should we be changing distributors, caps & plugs? My car has about 28k miles and only gets about 6000 miles/year.

Cheers,

Rick

I believe the distributor cap, rotor and plugs are 30k mile service items. If yours have never been changed, this would be a good time to do them.

I just changed my rotors and caps @ 47k miles... looked like the first time they have been changed. They were UGLY!

I've dealt w/ Pelican before and I like their system online. No problems here. Sunset does have a bit better prices, though, and they are very nice people to deal with to boot.

Good luck... let us know how the oil change goes as I am looking at doing mine for the first time in the near future.

You also need an aluminum crush washer for the drain plug. I don't have the part number handy.

My rotors, caps and rotors were toasted at 26K miles. Big improvement when they were changed.

Same crush washers for the tranny, if you plan on changing that also.

You may find you need a "lock-down" oil filter wrench to get the little filter off - it is the kind that tightens as you apply pressure. You can always take the small filter to an auto parts store to get the right size wrench. Then use a cup style socket to put it back on (but not too tight) as you cannot reach up there very easily. You do not need to take off the oil return tubes.

Have fun.
