Default "open door" signal while driving

Several times while driving the "open door" signal/bell begins sounding. If I slow down/stop and open/close the passenger door, it stops. It may not happen again for a week.

Any ideas?

the contact switch in the door jamb is corroded, sticking, or for some other reason malfunctioning. my guess

This is pretty common on cars kept near the beach or in damp climates. Take off the rubber boot and spray it with WD-40. If that doesn't work, replace the switch. As I remember it is a one on a scale of ten.

Behind th boot in the small cavity the wires sometimes become crimped causing a short. Pull them out a little and check the insulation.

Sprayed with WD40 and I'll see if it works.
Thanks.
