I've had the modified oem cubby with the leather-covered top with the figure-eight opening, but never loved it. My coffee mug tilts drastically forward and back with acceleration and braking.
I like the look of that solution, but it seems only half done. So I fixed it.
I added a few angle brackets to restrain the movement- one angle bracket in the center, and one at each end, both positioned to allow standard size cans or bottles, but keep them in place.
The end brackets were shiny, so I covered them with gaffer tape before putting them in place. I used nylon tiewraps to hold the end ones in place. The middle photo is a wide angle that lets you see both ends. I put a little piece of unused floormat in place to eliminate possible rattles.
Works well.

That little carpet piece looked tacky, so I replaced it with a section of non-slip material. With everything black, you really don’t notice the added parts, but it sure works better.

So, I find this picture interesting, because the floor of the stock tray is actually level to the ground. It is actually the top that is tilted to follow the lines of the center console trim. It seems to me that the Amazon cup holder would then actually have a tilted base, and a cup would also be tilted. Not ideal.

Yes, it’s as if they didn’t actually have a car to examine when they designed it.
However, I received mine from Amazon yesterday, it works fine, the slight tilt is not really noticeable. And the quality is very good.
However, for my particular travel mug, my modified leather-top cup holder (see a few posts up) works slightly better, so I’ll just keep using that.

[img alt="I had a set of these cupholders in the early 2000s on my 88 Carrera. thought they were so convenient that I bought them for my next car which was an 88 930.
Fast forward to this year and I have installed them on my 95 and my 98 993s. They are inexpensive and very functional. When you’re not using them, they fold up nice and snug to the Passengerside of the shifter hump. I used a couple of Self tapping screws. Installed In minutes. 😊 I will try to get a picture of the install on line tomorrow.
