I like it. The rear now has some curves compared to the 996 and the headlights definitely look better. I don't care for the front spoiler or the wheels. I'm sure it'll look more flattering in person.

Is it my imagination, or is the interior just foul? Looks more like mid-80's Pontiac than 2005 Porsche.

I wonder why they softened the cut lines where the hood meets the front bumper and fenders?

I like it...it seems more pleasantly "evolutionary" of the 911 concept than the 996 does. Its got to be tough to evolve a body style that has been done and redone for 40 years. The front finally relates to the heritage of what was appealing about the 911 "look". The details are modern, but definitely a 911...

Yeap you are right! A big thumbs down on this one.. A lot of the parts in the interior belong to a Passat... eerrr Cayenne. Plastic galore with a clock of all things sitting atop the dash!!!
Especially that steering wheel is hedious! How do they manage every new model after the 993 to go downhill at least in the interior department is beyond me! Granted not all was bad with the 996 interior and the 3 spoke was sweet. But this????

looks like they went with a VW/Audi shifter, is that a clock in the middle of the dash?!

Widebody is good, but the rear lights looks "unhappy"

I also like the front and side profile but am not sold the on the rear end. They should have "retroed" the hood as well with the air vent.

I still have trouble falling for it, even with the improved headlights. Overall, it still looks slab-sided, dull, and disjointed, like the Boxster, 996, and Cayenne. What ever happened to mirroring the feminine form?

Even modern Ferraris (post 456) seem ham-fisted compared to the sensuous Pininfarina designs of the past. BMW's Bangle is into curves, but uses too many of them and puts them in weird places.

For lack of a better word, there's something strikingly non-organic about many modern automotive designs. Is it that hard to make a pretty car, is it simply too expensive to machine? Is it about aerodynamics and decreasing coefficients of drag to get better fuel efficiency? I just don't get it.

Man, do I wish they still made cars like this.

This looks promising.

As does this.

I agree that you need to see cars in person to be sure.

That front end makes me think of the Michelin Man.

- the interior is the worst ever, with special mention going to the eyesore clock and piece of junk steering wheel The steering wheel is probably easily upgradeable, and the silver plastic 'highlights' could be changed over, but that clock??

- the body looks gorgeous from the front quarter angle, imho. My only criticism is the very back. As GabiOsz said, the 993-like reflector strip across the back would tie it together a lot better. It's not quite right. Any version with a spoiler will probably be a lot better

- If they had just kept the 996 interior, it would have been an overall improvement

Here is some analysis of the interior. They clearly tried to make it like a 993.

I think that regardless of what you think of the exterior design, one thing stands. --- It looks better than the 996, but not as good as a 993. -- Oh well, life is not always perfect.
