Default Does anyone recognize this 993?

Does anyone recognize this 993? I’m considering purchasing it and the seller has zero service records/history on the car other than the Carfax. Looks like it’s most recent life was in Texas, and before that it was in PA from 2008-2020. I’ll get it PPId by an air cooled specialist but it was clearly owned by an enthusiast so I’m wondering if anyone here recognizes the car and can get me in touch with the prior owner to learn more about any major services not documented on the

Carfax Thank you!

Clearly owned by an “enthusiast” …. Well if that was the case there would be a binder full of maintenance records on the car so I doubt it!

By the looks of the setup …not in great taste… a Aero Kit II wing that should be a RS wing but it’s not a RS but a NB Carrera??? Front Aero doesn’t match with a Aero Kit II wing. Some Carrera 3.6 decal on the decklid

CARFAX READS: “Accident” car. Did you read “IT RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE!” “FRONT END and ROOF DAMAGE!” JESUS! RUN!!! RUN!!! RUN!!!

I have 2 large binders on each of my cars. Buying a 993 without records is like buying a Rolex without box and papers … subtract 20% off asking price. It’s a gamble and these cars are not cheap to fix. Seen some real purchase nightmares over the years by gullible buyers. Don’t get caught up in the moment and do your due diligence on the car. Parts are also jacked up due to lingering supply chain issues STILL … it’s a damn nightmare right now! Parts prices for these cars have skyrocketed! Get a PPI from an independent that knows air cooled Porsches with Leakdown and Compression tests on the engine NO EXCEPTIONS! GET A FRAME INSPECTION! Top end rebuild is now $20k plus even if you can find someone …at least a year out to start!

If I was you RUN!!! Plenty of better cars out there! Save your money for a better example! As the saying goes “Buy the BEST EXAMPLE!”

Are you buying directly from the seller? Do you know anything about them? Zero paperwork? The seller didn't do any maintenance or didn't receive or ask for any paperwork when they bought it? It is a weird way to buy a car. Not confidence inspiring. Makes me wonder if there's more to the story.

While it's not your preference, I'm not sure I'd call it poor taste. Looks like everything is reversible should someone so choose. Records are likely somewhere.

All RS cars are built on NB carreras.

from a non Porsche dealer. I plan to have an air cooled specialist inspect the car.

point taken, I definitely plan a LD and compression test along with thorough inspection for leaks, common corrosion areas, etc. With the age of these cars, it’ll be harder and harder to find one with no accident history though. What’s better - a low mileage example with really no service history, or a high mileage example with tons of records?
I found a 100k mile C4 that I’m considering from a fellow enthusiast but it has a minor accident from years ago, and I worry about resale with 100k+ miles. The car would likely be around $65k.

Listen … don’t short sell yourself! It took me and many others here over a year (s) to find our cars. Don’t rush to buy the first that comes along. This car would be a hard NO for me period. Accident car, no maintenance records etc…. No way! $65k is still TOO MUCH for that car! $50k or WALK! You will have a hell of a time trying to resell with that CARFAX History TRUST ME! Take your time and keep hunting that’s the thrill of the hunt! They are out there!

BUT……At the end of the day it’s your money and how you spend it. Report back with the PPI, Leakdown and Compression numbers BEFORE you agree to buy! POST IT HERE for all of us to decipher. GL

Nope but I'm not sure that was the intent. How do you figure it's trying to be passed off as such? The only RS bit I see is the shifter. If there was an RS badge on the back, you'd have a point but I'm not seeing it.

Owner just came forward on a 993 FB group (Jose Castro). What’d he have to say?

Edit: Looks like Jose was the PO owned it less than 2 years right before the dealer. Still hoping for some insight/records for the buyer's sake.

RS front splitter with a Aero Kit II wing … money can’t buy taste! Proper setup is below in pic If you are gonna do a RS Replica AT LEAST DO IT RIGHT! Okay I need to take my meds now

I would never even look at that car, with the carfax, modifications and the lack of any records - this is a no go as others have stated.
Just my German perspective.

I PMed him and will see what insights he has. Maybe he has records from the prior ownership. The accident on the Carfax isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker for me as long as it’s priced for. The lack of records is what concerns me more. I usually prefer to buy my cars from enthusiasts who took care of their cars. I have an inch thick stack of records for my 997 Turbo.
