I believe the brace should be adjusted to "preload" the struts. Should you do this by expanding the brace, contracting the brace or does it matter? I'm leaning toward expansion of the brace but figure someone out there will know the right answer. TIA

 

i have the Brey-Krause strut brace. Here are the directions that I followed.

Pre-load the bar slightly by expanding it a bit.
