OT: Repairing curb rash? Mercedes list?
I'm poised to pick up a Mercedes C-Class to go with my C4. The rims are in nice shape save for some minor curb rash on the thin protuding lips that surround the tires. I'm curious if anyone has had any success cleaning that up themselves and how it might be done ... Dremel tool with the right attachment?
Also, I'm sure there is an online community similar to Rennlist for the MB crowd, but my searches aren't yielding much. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Vic,
The Mercedes list is pretty darn weak.
I try to be helpful over there now and then, but most of the members are very young and just do not want to talk about anything but window tint, bass speakers, low ride and 20 inch wheels.
There are maybe 5 guys over there that dont fit that stereotype.
I did a few G-tech runs with an interesting Benz for them (everyone over there wanted to know the performance of a new '03 model) and NOT ONE of them would validate the times - because I used a G-tech.
I said to them "what do you want me to do, use a stopwatch?" They all said I should "take it to the drag strip" (in the winter?). However the point was moot, because as you know, the drag strip does not give zero to sixty times anyhow!
I did not argue with them, I just let them go test their own now (of course none of them have a G-tech, or the kind of Benz they want to know about for that matter).
Also, some pip squeek posted that I had a Porsche, and that I must think that everyone cant argue with a Porsche owner (for the record, I do not have "Porsche" in my "sig" or anything).
Ya just cant help some people. Needless to say, our excellent forums have me spoiled (most days) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Kim/Michael - and some days you can find the same right here ... w/increasing frequency, IMO.

I've had OK results w/my Dremel & brush on touch up paint followed by a clear coat, for minor damage to my track wheels. The paint is Dupli-Color #77-01579 (Toyota Color #176 - Platinum Silver metallic clearcoat). The aluminum is quite soft & easy to grind/sand. If I had more patience to really polish the area smooth, I'm sure it would be better. Plus, the paint I'm using isn't an exact match, but quite close (still searching for a brush on alternative to buying a spray can of Wurths). However, from a few feet away, it's perfect.

Vic,
Nasa racer pete on the funcarsonline board posted instruction on how to do this. Since your email is not posted in your profile I can not mail it to you.

I saw a pretty good writeup on one of the Audiworld forum. I tried it and the results came out pretty good. A little more patience on my part and the result would have been better.
