Here's what the specialists did to improve the 993 RS
I talked to Phil Hindley of Tech-9 Motorsport as part of the recent air-cooled RS documentary that I made. Here is what Phil says that his company did/does to the 993 RS to make it a better track car. Oh, and how he hit the limiter in sixth while driving on the autobahn to deliver a 993 RS to a customer at a Spa trackday!
Hitting the limiter in 6th was on a car with the lower 8:32 crown ring and pinion set. I drove a 993 RS CS with that fitted, it was a bit too frantic on the road. I didn't redline it, the mathematicians will be on it already, but I doubt it would go much above 130mph?
I much prefer the G50/32 set up.
in 6th gear (0,82:1) it is 157mph (252kmh) at 6900rpm with the transmission G64/31 (993RS)
more like 152 when you use the actual loaded revolutions per mile instead of the unmounted tire OD
This is for a 265/35 x18 and also +/-2 due to tire specific variations
I've got a Cup /30 trans in mine, top is ~163 w/ 265/35 x18 & 6800, wouldn't want something any shorter even for track days unless the rev limit was raised considerably
While the stock RS suspension is really nice for serious track use you would want full RSR, which is still surprisingly streetable
