Default BAR visit (part II)

I finally have my flight details.

I arrive at SFO at 15:50 on Thursday, May 13
I leave SFO on Sunday, May 16 at 18:50

The time in between is dedicated to meeting BAR members, their cars, experiencing Laguna Seca, and it sounds like there is a BAR drive planned too!

Looking forward to it immensely!

Terry, I emailed you back, thanks.

To others: please contact me by the email link, not PM. My inbox is often full.

Cheers,

Graham

Hi Graham, all:

I was wondering if we can do a BAR drive welcoming Graham on the 15th (Saturday)? So far the vote is to drive to Laguna Seca (there'll be a track event there and Kim is checking to see if he can give Graham a ride in his YZ on the track).

2 years ago, Matt (H20NOO) organized a drive to Big Sur from South San Jose via some backroads (I forgot about the details of the route but we can ask Matt).

Here's some details from that drive (should we meet at the same place, same time?):

Of course, a BAR drive and I vote for Big Sur for one who has come so far. Graham, I don't know any of those bars, but I would have problems at home if I visited any of them.

Hi Graham,

Got your e-mail, and thanks for the schedule. Do you still need lodging recommendations?

I'm game for a BAR drive (in my M5 however, as the RUF sits at home watching the paint dry. ). I'd cut out by early PM to go celebrate my wife's birthday.

I'm speechless!

What is happening at LS on the 15th? I have been offered a lift there by a few Rennlisters and a few hot laps. I feel truly spoiled!

Does it make sense to start the day at LS then peel off for a BAR drive to Big Sur? I have no idea of the times and distances involved.

I've been to most of those. It would depend a little on where you're going to be in the city.

I usually take out of town guests somewhere with a view. Top of the Mark would do, and Carnelian Room has a great view.

If you're around North Beach, Tosca cafe is nice as are Spec's and Vesuvio which are right around there.

I guess I'm too old and married. I've never heard of even one of the bars on the list. Good food and wine I know, not bars.

Graham, it's about 1.5 - 2 hours drive to get to Laguna Seca. It's another hour or so down the coast to Big Sur. If you use Yahoo maps and tell it Monterey (Laguna Seca) you'll see the distances involved. We, of course, drive like little turtles and it takes a while to get from here to there.

You have your hotel figured out yet?

Graham,

As Rob has said, it will depend where you are, how much you want to fork out for drinks, what type of music you like and where the hot clientele hang out. Try these urls for descriptions and picks.
