Bob I know its not your color but a Targa is kind of the best of both worlds and I have not seen many Tips in this model. Silver does not look shabby at all!:

I'll keep a watch too. Good Luck. You will enjoy the tip. It feels nice & the response is way better than I thought. The harder you drive, the more responsive the tip becomes (driver sensitive). Also, you will have a great amount of leg room for your left leg to stretch out (unlike clutch cars) due to no clutch.

There are a bunch of Tips in California (LA) if any of you have ever spent a day in LA traffic you would see why.
Sorry to hear about your condition. I'm sure you'll be feeling better behind the wheel of a 993....
I took almost a year to find mine and you'll know when the right deal is on the table.
Here are some places I looked too:

<a href="http://www.nwicars.com/index.htm" target="_blank">http://www.nwicars.com/index.htm</a>

<a href="http://www.luxurymotors.com/" target="_blank">http://www.luxurymotors.com/</a>

<a href="http://www.rmautosport.com/index.cfm" target="_blank">http://www.rmautosport.com/index.cfm</a>

And others listed above..
Good luck!

<a href="http://www.parcars.com/parall.htm" target="_blank">http://www.parcars.com/parall.htm</a> I looked here before I bought mine locally. They have a 96' Cab with trip. Give them a look. I have no affiliation with them nor have I ever done business with them.
Best of luck

<a href="http://www.premiercars.com/inventory.php" target="_blank">http://www.premiercars.com/inventory.php</a> I know it's a dealer but wow they have some nice cars. There is a Guards red Tiptronic a 1998 with 8500 miles on it for $66,000 which is close to your range. And several other cars if you can live with a different color.

They alos have a very nice 1995 Yellow Conv. Tiptronic with 24,500 miles for $46,500. I know you wanted the 96 but I really don't think you will notice the difference between the two. I drove 95-98 and they all seem the same to me. The 6 speed vs. the Tip is a noticable difference though. Don't get me wrong there have been days sitting in traffic I would love to have a Tip.

Good Luck

Bob,

Have you considered a broker such as Brian Buxton? Basically give them the parameters for the car you want and let them find it for you, for a fee of course. Just another idea. They have access to dealer data banks that you and I don't.

I feel like I am running out of creative ways to say thank you, but I just have to say it again...besides the posts here, I have received many other private emails from rennlist folks offering leads and suggestions. I continue to be incredibly impressed by the dedication and camaraderie of this group....

As of this afternoon I turned over my search, at least for the time being, to a broker that some fellow rennlisters recommended. I got several suggestions for brokers and went with the one who seemed to fit best for my situation.

I am now cautiously optimistic. Hopefully within a couple of weeks I will have some happy news to report!

Thumbs up

LOL!! Yeah, I have always had "yellow fever." It only took 30 years for the color to come back in style again.

Thanks Deano, I appreciate it. The broker I am now working with is investigating the silver one in CA, but the red one, at $66k, is definitely out of my price range.

The prices are all over the map right now. An excellent low-miles '96 Tip coupe in Arena Red sold for $34,500 last week. Maybe I just should have bought that, but others have told me you don't want to buy a car that every time you look at it reminds you it was not what you really wanted, and I sort of agree....

I have to admit I am pretty frustrated at this point, but will keep up the hunt!

Bob, did you see the C2S tiptronic for $37 on autotrader? I think its arctic silver.

Good luck,
Jordan

Jordan, thanks for the post. I have a funny feeling that whatever car I eventually find will be the result of an eagle-eyed rennlister giving me a heads-up.

In this case though, I did know about this car and we are currently investigating it.

Interesting thing is that I found it via a recent ad in the Orlando newspaper, where the asking price was $4,000 more than the autotrader ad you pointed me to!

I'm probably going to stick with something with less miles (this car has almost 78k) but at $35,900 this seems pretty cheap for an "S."
