Default degreased/washed engine..now running rough

Hi all,
I did an engine degrease and water rinse off, used to plastic bags to cover the two air intact/motor-sound outlet...didnt cover the distributor cap.
Problem is the engine feels like its running a little rough now....is that normal or have i done something really silly???

First thing to check is if there is any moisture in the distributor. Even though you had it bagged. Next, did you blow off a spark plug wire? Those are the first 2 places I check.

Shrek:

If you can, carefully unclip both distributor caps and you'll likely see some condensation in there.

Wipe everything dry with a cotton towel and spray the inside of the cap with WD-40 to displace any remaining moisture.

That should resolve that problem.

BTW, if the moisture affected your wires, its time for new ones,....

Shrek,

Just a thought since I do not know the MY of your car and is the reason for my question and comment. Has your wire harness been replaced yet? I washed and cleaned my engine and had some rough running issues. This problem and this board led to the discovery of the bad harness. Had it replaced and no problems with washing the engine.
