Default how are those supercharged 993's?

i have been following the install and sorting of some of the TPC Supercharged 993's and wondered how it was going.

i dont recall reading if the CEL problem has been figured out?

and would someone mind commenting on the types of sound it makes in the car when driving? and did it change the wonderful NA induction noise?

also wondered if anyone could compare the SCed 993 w/a 993 TT in terms of how much power, when and how it comes on and throttel response.

Cecil,

If my memory serves, you are one of the first, or at least one of the earliest on this board, who had this done. May I ask how many miles have you racked up since have you put on the TPC, any maintenance issues apart from the norm, and whether you put the car on the track? Thanks in advance

Why did You that upgrade, what were the exact problems? And how is it now?

Did You upgrade to turbo spark plugs?

What coils did You install.

Any detonation before/after.

Huh, lots of questions, appreciate Your detailed comment on that.

Thanks. My car is in regular sevice with spark plug change. Just wondering, is it wise to use colder plugs, turbo specified spark plugs for example.

Hi Edward,

I have about 33,000 with the supercharger. The car total has about 83,000. No problems after the intial shakedown. I change oil and filters at about 3,000 miles. I put new plugs in at the time of the supercharger. Good Bosch. I have no problems with the car at all. I just use it axs a street car.

Cecil,

Wow, 33K...sounds great! I remember some time ago that TPC was looking into CA certification (though I have my doubts considering CA's Air **** Board). If they ever work out that wrinkle, I might seriously look into it. Thanks for the update.

Can someone please explain if a supercharger would pass emission test here in CA why wouldn't it pass the visual test? What matters is whatever coming out of the tailpipes anyway...wouldn't you think?

TIA.

Do you guys worry about the supercharger having a negative effect on resale value? I think there will come a day when 993's command more money than they are worth now, it defintely appears to me they have finished depreciateing, I supercharged a BMW once but I would'nt do it to the Porsche.

Sean I'm not super charged but I wouldn't worry about resale value. Superchargers are a bolt on without major modification so you could simply remove it with out any evidence it was ever there

Sean, I agree with Kristoffer on the removal (though it would be a shame to spend all that money on it only to remove it). The better situation would be to find another enthusiast that understands the value of the upgrade and is willing to pay for that value. Obviously leaving it on would narrow the available spectrum of buyers.

Anyone know how much modification is needed to move a TPC (or other) supercharger into another car?
