Default Bosch Number on DME

I am looking for my Bosch Number on the cover of my DME on my Tiptronic.

Apparently it is needed for finding the correct program for a chip.

I found the number 0.261.002.288, but apparently this is incorrect.

I have seen the http://p-car.com/diy/chip/chip.htm guide.

Does anyone else have a photo of the cover on a Tip so I can locate the correct number?

Are you sure it's not 0 261 200 288 or 0 261 201 288?

Check out this web site (www.systemsc.com) on the Parts page for the Bosch
DME part numbers. The '95 993 used the 55 pin DME which is the last DME with a
removal EPROM chip. Later DMEs have flash memories (EEPROM) which are not removal.

"The correct Bosch No. is 0 260 002 288 Porsche No. 993 618 115 02."

These are NOT the Bosch/Porsche part numbers for the DME unit. Check the
Porsche PET, as the 993 618 115 02 is a Tiptronic number and
S/B 993 618 115 00. The 115 denotes the Tiptronic. The 120 will denote DME.

The Bosch 260 is for Tiptronic. The Bosch 261 is for DME units.

I'll add that Porsche used 3 versions (.163, .674, .675) of USA-spec ECU's in the '95 993's and one must match a chip to the ECU in use.

My car is a British (European) one. Would this still apply?

It seems I may have been looking at the Tiptronic controller, but it is the sticker on the only silver box i can see without taking the seat off. I guess I will have to take the seat off.

The DME should be under the left seat. Your initial number is correct.

"I found the number 0.261.002.288, but apparently this is incorrect."

The 261 is a DME unit.

I found it, It was hidden under the very front of the seat under the carpet, it seems extremely easy to remove without taking the seat off. The number is 0.261.203.674.

Thanks for all your help and advice.
