MikeO, Not that any of us ever get to pay wholesale prices for these cars, but FWIW, my friend owns a Nissan Dealership in Boulder Colorado and his last trip to the Manheim he bought a 96 C4S low miles with some options for $48,000.

Too bad we cant all get in there. He is going to take me on his next trip. It sounds like quite an experience.

My '97 C2S sticker states $63,750 without options.
I bought mine with 11K miles in Oct '98 for $61K with 18" wheels, Arctic silver paint, AM/FM/CD+ hifi sound package, alum shifter/brake handle, and full power driver's seat. It has 42K miles now, and I was recently offered $63K for it. Still have it, and am happy to say so.

Personally, I agree with you that the integrated tail of the S models is more aesthetically pleasing than the whale tail on the 993TT. But, the tail sure does it job well.

You guys shoulds all come over to Europe and profit from the cheap euro. I'll give you the URL of 993 4s 1997 which I saw at a dealer today, mint condition, burgundy for 47.000 USD.

I think the only issue is the conversion in the US it has to be DOT approved to get it on the street is quite easy to get the car over.
Last month I stopped by Singen/Germany and you are right prices are good (I hear in belgium is even cheaper) on top of some exotics they had couple of mint 959's with 15K kms ...they also had a BMW'Z8 for US 90K and those are heavily marked-up in the US.

I travel to Belgium (family) and other European countries twice a year, and do benefit from the low Euro, but it's not that simple with a Euro spec car. Take a look at the link and ask a few people who have been through it. I believe the price differential is justified. The only benefit to be had is to take factory delivery of a US spec car, and ensure that it enters California 90 days after taking delivery to avoid the 8.25% sales tax. Savings and rules will vary by State.

I just picked up my 96 993 C4S tonight. What a great car. I am used to my old 1980 SC so this is much much better. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. I am sure St. Louis is cheaper than the coasts.

I suppose it's not very easy to do but I found the price difference enormous. Containershipping is 1.500 usd and takes 5 to 7 days. I always had good experiences with the import out of the States. Of course it's timeconsuming but when all is done you can tell people you've done it yourself. And that was also pretty nice, like you made a bit of the car yourself. Anyhow if somebody would like info on a specific modell he can always mail me.
