Pentosin/Dexron - quick question
I'm about ready to replace a leaking rack & pinion unit in my '95 993, and I am planning on using Pentosin to refill the system instead of Dexron, which is what is currently being used. Based on what I read in some past threads, I should be OK, but I thought I'd ask anyway just to be sure.
BTW, the shop manual states that starting in March, 1996, Pentosin was used exclusively and should always be used when topping off the system, but prior to that, it says that Dexron was used but topping off with Pentosin was acceptable. This also suggests I should be OK, even though the can of Pentosin I bought explicitly says not to mix it with other hydraulic oils.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Definitely refill with Pentosin CHF11S. Your steering rack will last longer, since the Pentosin does not have the friction modifiers used in Dexron that attack rubber. Power steering should work better in extreme cold too with CHF11S.
