1996 Widebody Availability
Hi,
I'm new to this board. Seem like a great group of folks here from what i have read. Trying to decide which 993 to purchase.
I was wondering if a widebody was available in the US for the '96 model year besides the C4S. Was there a C2S with the widebody?
Thanks,
Ted

Yes, it was officially called the 911 Carrera S.

The Carrera 4S came with 8 x 18 and 10 x 18 wheels while the Carrera S came with 7 x 17 and 9 x 17 wheels as standard. You could, however, order the 8 x 18 and 10 x 18 on the Carrera S as an option.

Yes. C2S and S are the same. The widebodies come with wider wheels- 18" 8s and 10s. The S model wheels look like the turbo wheels and are the same size, but they are not the same wheel. The turbos are hollow.
Thanks Viken for the production numbers.

To add more confusion, Porsche installed hollow spoke 18" wheels on the Carrera S while it only supplied solid spoke 18" wheels on the Carrera 4S.

I think KC993 meant that the "standard" black brakes were on the C2S.......he just forgot the word "black".......
