Question OT: What is "duplicate title"

Been looking at a second hand truck for gardening and antique hobby, came across one where the CarFax reports "duplicate title".

What exactly does this mean? The explanation was less than useful on the site. Is this a clerical issue or an attempt at fraud? Hoping to find some car people was experience on this.

Thanks,
Peter

This is a title that was issued when a current title was physically lost by owner.
This is not a bad thing by any means, it's just a result of a misplaced piece of paper. Happened to me more than once.
No worries.

As Mike said, to me, a dupe title means the owner lost the original and needed to have another one re-issued. No biggie.

Okay, cool thanks guys! It sounds so straightforward but the explanation on the website was as follows "Duplicate title records were found".

Golly, that's so helpful... equivalent to Anti-Lock Brakes - Brakes which have anti-lock.

Thanks,
Peter
