Default 996 vs 993

As some of you may know that I had a couple of 996's offered in trade for my 993.

This thread solidifies why 993's are great cars! Most are probably already aware but I thought it was still pretty interesting.

I had no idea that the gt3/gt2 and supercup cars are 993 blocks with 996 head. Thanks for the useful info

Actually, the blocks are from the 964 series (shared by the 993 also)...

Not exactly. Its a 964 case with water cooled heads... not the same heads as the 996 Carrera though.

All the earlier TT's, GT2's, and GT3's had the 964 part number on the case. Porsche must have used up its remaining inventory and has started using a modified version of the same case with a 996 part number (made in Spain). My 7/03 build has a 964 case (made in Germany).
