I dont believe there was much fender lip modification with the Pirellis... possibly some mild manipulation towards the front of the arch... but def none needed with the skinnier Sumitomos. I'll post pics...

When I did a wheel/tire change, I went from the Techart 11" et60 and the Pirelli 285/30, to a Fifteen52/Outlaw 18x11 et63 with the aformentioned Sumitomo 285/30 tire, and there was MUCH more TIRE clearance, inside and out, but that wheel was CLOSE to the suspension. But hey... close only counts in horseshoes & hand grenades Deflection and tire roll will absolutely play a part in rubbing contact but I never rubbed inside or out with the narrower tires. Outside, possibly over very large bumps before going to a narrower tire, but it wasnt notable.

Stretching narrower tires on wide wheels isnt for everyone but it's effective and its worth noting for those who are seeking the info. Bill V is THE authority on what is known to fit so he's not gonna tell you what he doesnt know. He knows his **** inside and out. I'm only reporting my experience with my setups. I dont mind some mildly stretched tires if it's all for aesthetics. A proper offset 10" with a 275/35 or 285/30 would be ideal for most. and ride/handle much better.

The pic below is comparing a 11" w/ a Sumitomo HTR Z III 285/30 (left) to an 11" w/ a 285/30 Pirelli PZero Rosso (right). HUGE different and one that makes all the difference in the world for tire clearance. Personally I prefer the chunky Pirelli but I didint know how skinny the 285 Sumitomos were when I bought them LOL. I like the wheel protector bead to be flush with the wheel lip... not past it, not behind it. These Sumitomo's on an 11 were way behind the lip... but hey a little poke never hurt anyone, lol. (Flame Shield Up) #stanceboy #tirestretch LOL

What is your rude height?

Your observations of the ease of fitment are right on
the Pirelli is a much blockier tire than the Sumi, meaning it's wider up near the tread, the Sumi actually gas a wider section width but that is maxed out down by the wheel edge on both when stretched to max, on a 10 or 10.5 the widest part will be up nearer the center of the side wall

additionally the Pirelli tread is a full 1" wider, no matter what wheel it's on

I'd love to see this pic of yours

still #s don't lie

your 11 ET611 positions the inner edge of the wheel 8.7mm close to the chassis than mine in the pic, the outer edge is 16,7mm further out but on the outside its the width @ or just below the tread that counts

Kinda low but not crazy low... lol. Thats as technical as I get. See pics...

I never had any interferance issues so I never took any of the clearance on the 993. I've taken some on my VW's... 3mm spacers helped that there. Never had any issue on the 993.

This pic is obviously misleading becasue I'm cornering but this is the 285/30 PZero Rosso on 11" Techarts et60 and no rubbing, going hard...

Silly question, and I really don't mean to offend but but how did you determine that they are 11" wheels?

11" wheels should measure 12" overall, except BBS and Fuchs which have a narrow lip design than other wheels

a 10 will measure 11" overall

Similarly 8.5ET41 will stick out 13mm more than the 8.5 ET54 that I use, that is equally hard to understand if the specs are truel

No offense taken! I would have measured the offsets too if I still owned the wheels, haha. I'm not a noob... I've been around wheels a long time.

And for the sake of outside measurements...

Thanks, those are certainly 8.5 & 11, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how the can fit. The 285 tire isn't an issue but from my experience even a 10.5 ET59 is pushing things, I did use 9s in the front of mine but the o/s was just a bit off so that a 235 or 245 tires wouldn't work

It's interesting that the 8.5 doesn't measure out to a full 9.5 o/a, I wonder if BBS lips might have been used

Just for information purposes here are 3 of the max 993n/b fitments that I have records for
normalized for MPSC2 tires which are fairly blocky, block index -.930, compared to Pirelli Rosso B/I - .956 or Sumi HTZR25 B/I - .853

all fit and are on low cars, 3/4 anyway

The red shaded boxes are where I would expect issues

nine compared to JScotts race car

Mine compared to Rich Pugh's at a bit higher ride height

Mine compared to Trophy's

just for giggles some visuals I did a long time ago, before I learned a bit more about the lip differences
