Tips on preparing a 993 for shipping?
Hi again,
Well the time has come to pack my things and make a run for Texas. I will be shipping my '95 993 via Intercity Lines (covered trailer) across the 1900mi trek. In preparation for the trip I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for getting the car ready to be hauled. How can I minimize the impact of the trip on my car?
Thanks for any hints!

Sean, where in Texas are you winding up? Funny to see someone going *out* of San Jose to Texas, but I guess the times they are a'changing...

I* have shipped Intercity from LA to Chicago. The car required no special preparation. Just don't leave any propane bottles in the car. Other than that, trust the job to Intercity. They do great work.
* Actually we shipped 11 cars (Required two (2) transporters) at one time to Road America for the 1991 POC Dirty Dozen Tour. All came through without a scratch.

Robert,
I will be headed out to Houston, Tx. Times they are a changing...but when you consider all of the drawbacks (read expensive, huge taxes) to life in Ca - there really was no choice for someone just out of Grad school and getting started. You just can't do that in Palo Alto - not with any quality of life. Grin.
So it's off to the oil-industry for this programmer...to work on software that will hopefully one-day help minimize the impact of drilling for fossil fuels, globally.
Probably more than you wanted to know. Grin.
cheers,
sean

Well, don't be a stranger. The local PCA region puts on great DEs at Texas World Speedway near College Station, only about a 75 minute drive from Houston. Don't think I'm going to make the Labor Day scorcher, though. Survived last year's 106-109 degree torture, but not sure if I want to risk THAT again. I'll definitely be there in October & December, though.

Robert,
Sounds like a plan! I doubt if I'll push her very hard (never done a DE before, and can't afford too much track prep) but I'd definitely like to get a feel for the limits of the car's ability. And October-December sounds much more favorable temperature-wise. Grin.
See you there!
