Post THREE HUNDRED BUCKS EACH for Tips?...

Thats what Jim Ellis Porsche wants for oval chrome tips! They gotta be kidding. Anyone know of a dealership that doesn't skin folks as much? : )

For the complete cheapskate approach (the one I took) take the stock tips to a decent chrome shop and have them professionally polished. This will run you under $100, looks great, and has lasted for six months so far.....

Local dealer charges $550 for the big oval tips WITH motorsound air box lid, and if you are lucky(like me) you can sell the air box for $100 and keep the big ovals.

...which is exactly what I did about 10-11 months ago. They still look as good as day one out from the chrome plater. $70 MUCH better than the alternatives...at least as long as the chrome holds up

I've seen them come up on eBay for around the $300 range. Probably your best bet is to get it from Gert. He used to sell those for about $800, but recently dropped the price down to $475 ( within the past 6 mos, i think.. )

Can anyone explain, or Iam missing something,
Why are the tips so expensive in the first place $300 + for 2 shaped bits of metal, I dont get it.

What do they do except be cosmetic ??
Gerts got some much cheaper ones for sale whats the difference except looks !!

Just installed tips purchased from Gert for $ 125 plus shipping. They are not the big ovals but the OEM motor sound tips. They look great. Might not be exactly what you are looking for but are a very nice alternative for the price. Mick

Gibo: I think the exhaust tips are priced that high because a sufficient number of people will still pay that price. If people would stop paying those prices, they would come down. Vote with your wallet; get your OE tips chromed.

First of all, the stock tips (polished or not) are not as attractive as the big ovals. Especially the tips from the '95 cars. Second, the big ovals are made of stainless steel and highly polished. The cost of manufacturing on those is much higher than that of the stock tips. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.
