Max911's airbag is a deal. I am betting it will be gone in a few hours of the posting. I just finished my 3 spoke steering wheel upgrade. Finding and buying the steering wheel was easy. It seems that every totaled 996/986 with a 3 spook steering wheel has blown airbags thus there are a lot of steering wheels out there on the parts market minus the airbag. A good air bag from a totaled car is usually sold with the steering wheel. I happened to luck out and came across a used vinyl beige airbag for only $120. Two coats of Surflex and I had my black airbag. It seems to me that one of Rennlists sponsors could do a group buy of air bags. During my search for one I came across a lot of folks that were looking for one.

Thanks for reminding me. Though she's not an airbag, she's an airhead!!!

I just got one from suncoast for $430 plus shipping-wish I had known Max. It is leather, but I wanted the crest and the vynal is only embossed-by the time you pay for the crest it was not that much more. The local dealer wanted $750-ouch.

Now-to hijack the thread a little-from search it looks like d/c battery for 20 minutes and then two torx screws and one bolt. I don't see any plug in connections other then those that will connect with the placement of the airbag in the wheel. Right??????

Al,

Sounds correct to me although I am not sure which bolt you mean. If you don't have to remove the wheel again, it should just be the two torx, unless we have different wheels.
