Just curious what other have done. Mine is a cab, but I want to know what anyone has done because I'm getting mine put in soon.

Thanks,

Randy, How is your reception with that antennae location?? I put a "roady" in my A4 and it worked in my garage????????When I put the antennae on the dashboard outside it did not work all that great. Maybe the flat 993 rear window is the key??

I have my antenna on the rear deck and reception isn't as good as when it's mounted on the roof but it's not that bad. My truck has the XM antenna on the roof and reception is excellent. I just thought the antenna looked too goofy on the roof although if you painted it body color it might help.

yup.. painting body color helps a great deal!!!

...and is my intent for my 993 after doing this for my previous car (an SC430)--- yeah yeah yeah, I can hear the groans now... I had it for 2 years and traded it in for the Boxster S ... couldn't stand it any more... LOL

Has anyone mounted it on their dashboard. Due to mine being a cab, the rear window is not an option. I think my choices are a dashboard mount, mounting behind the bottom of the cab top just above the engine, or on the engine cover which I want to try and avoid.

Any ideas??

Robert

On the hump before the rear seats. Works 50% with the top up, but I have only driven with the top up twice in 9,000 miles . . .

Works 100% with top down!

Not a bad idea, tvurt. I guess I need to think about how much I drive with the top up!!

The reception is excellent. It works in my garage whereas the factory installed XM system in the Tahoe does not.

Robert,

I have the portable XM system installed in my cab. I have the antennae mounted on the dash as I almost always drive with the top down. Works great. I would have liked to have it less noticable but it was a trade off between reception and hiding it.

I guess there are not very many options on this....I'll see what the guys at the shop have to say about it. They do a lot of install work on Porsches here in Nashville.

Robert

Post a follow up once you have it installed. I am very close to adding one to my Cab.

Two question here:

My Sony XM tuner has two antennae inputs=satellite and Terrestrial??

I do not want to put the big turk ***** on my car so can I get away with one little magnetic antennae.

AND: if I put the tuner in front trunk where is the best way/route for wires into passenger compartment.
Steve
