Question Too much lean?

Hey guys, I need some help. I'm trying to decide if rear end of the car is stiff enough. I got some pictures from an event a couple of weeks ago and noticed the front end leaning more than what I thought it should.

Here is a pic for example:

Now, I do have the TRG coilovers with 650/800 lbs with their sways and I run slicks on the track. Both sways are in the middle position. Would tightening the rear sway help any or do I just need to go to 1000/1200 lbs springs? I'd really hate to change anything now because it handles better than it ever has before.

TIA,

George

Here are some more pics from the event if you interested (be careful they are high res):

I think so too....

Tightening the rear bar will help a little. I do not know if I would go 1000/1200s. You may want to try 800/1000 first...

Thanks Max.

Well Bob, looks like our cars do similar things. What spring rates are you running? I've often wondered if that's what they were supposed to do.

Am I correct to think that the wheel lift isn't lean in the sense of body-roll? What is causing the wheel lift is a stiff suspension (monoballs) that increases the car's rigidity. If the car was setup correctly, you wouldn't necessarily feel this as body-roll in a turn, despite having one wheel up. With body-roll, on the other hand, you could have excessive leaning without lifting a wheel if the suspension was soft.

You could call one effect "stiffness" and the other "lean"?

George,
I'm pulling the 700s/900s off the RSA if you want to give them a try. Headed for Daytona in the AM. Give me a call next week.

Good point Kevin. I feel no body roll inside the car. It feels flat as board.

Jay, what rates are you going to?

Karim, yours should be doing the same fairly soon.

Kevin:

FWIW,..What causes the inside front wheel to lift is lateral weight transfer.

Root causes can be a front roll center that is too low (very common) or insufficient rear roll stiffness.

Both are certainly correctable, but involve some compromise...

George,
Don't know exactly what the rates are yet. Cervelli is setting me up with the same thing he put on Patti & Ruiz's cars. He said it was a couple hundred pounds stiffer than my cupcar springs were. Let me get them in & you can come get the 700s/900s. Are you running the HC event in May?

I'm running 800/1000s at the moment. I just went to a stiffer setting on my rear bar as with the slicks I was getting some understeer. I may increase my spring rates to 1000/1200 in order to try and get the rears a little stiffer....

Steve, how would you diagnose and correct these problems? Is stiffening the rear bar enough to get the rear end stiffer?

Jay, yes I should be out there. Thanks for the springs. I can get them from you at the next event.

George
