Some original potentially problematic harnesses that were replaced early, i.e. didn't show insulation disintegration, "found their way" back into the after-market parts distribution channel.

If true, I'd chalk that up to some isolated incidents involving unscrupulous dealerships recycling parts.

I'm not sure what your point is though. Are you implying some conspiracy theory on the part of Porsche to remove and re-label affected harnesses with new labels?

The harness I received a few months ago came from Porsche Germany (none available in the US) and was manufactured Sept 6, 2002 according to the label on it (yes, 19 year old "NOS"). You order 000-043-204-61 for $100, you open the box and inside is 993-607-016-15, which is the most recent version of the harness and sells for $1400 if ordered via that number.

You don't get any of the affected part numbers: 993-607-016-00 thru -08 or 993-607-016-80 if that is what you're thinking (or implying they removed the stickers and applied new ones).

Definitely not! You are aware that replaced/warranty parts "find their way" out of the Porsche system or from independent Porsche repair shops, and then sold by some parts suppliers.

So for just $100, you can get a harness that lists for $1400 by using another part number and ordering from Porsche in Germany. Hey, that's great!
Maybe there're other Porsche OEM parts that can be ordered directly from Porsche in Germany bypassing Porsche of USA, right?

I guess it’s an artifact or the warranty recall. Either way, they’ll probably close it out when stock runs low (or the sudden sales blip draws their attention to the error)
i just have to say a big thanks to Boom for bringing this to the forum and encourage all long term owners to take advantage. If it’s not the SAI or the alternator it’ll be a bastard mouse.
great back up!
I owe you a beer!
