What shoud I pay for a alternator at the dealer? Mine works but I basically want to get an alternator without stripped threads as my previous posts have stated. I dont want to weld an allen head on the end of my alternator.

You can get it online for about $200 for parts and then 2 hours to install it.
So the total should be about $350-$400. I bet the dealer will charge you about $800. Let us know how much they ask for, both parts and labor, if you find out.
Another option is to get the RS pulley. With that setup, you don't need to even touch the alternator shaft after it's installed to replace the belt. The RS pulley is about $100.

Autozone, PN13318, $168.99 plus 85$ core. BTW brake pads for your car at Autozone are PN MKD 447 @$21.99 for fronts and PN MKD 446 @$34.99. All of these are with a lifetime warranty. I have used all of the above on literally multiple 993's and they worked fine.

Yes, I have had a 2 96 C4s's,a RSCS clone(built it), 1 96 C4 cab, a 96 C2 and a 993 TT(currently has a C class log book racecar in PCA, lives near Mid Ohio now). Every one of those cars used the AZ pads and 2 had a AZ alternator on them. BTW the lifetime wty on the pads is sure neat.....

o.k.
well, for whatever it's worth..
www.europeanautomotive.com sells the bosch unit for $184 (+ $80 core) with free shipping and NO tax..
..but it sounds like autozone wins on best price

Always buy on price, especially for your Porsche! Makes good logic.
It's like the same analogy; store ABC has milk for $2.00 and store
CDE has milk for $1.90. So you buy from store CDE. Milk is a commodity
just like Porsche rebuilt parts and labor (It's all the same quality.), right?
