Default Fog lights not working

The fog lights on my (new to me) 95 C2 are not operational. I've checked fuse 14, which seemed fine, but swapped it anyway. I also swapped the fog light relay with the horn relay, and they are still not working.

When I pull the switch on the dash, instead of lighting up, it goes dark (although it is illuminated when it is pushed in (off position) via the dash lights.

Any one face this before? Owner's manual sheds no clues, do I have a bad bulb?

I would try changing one lightbulb first since that is much easier than starting to dismantle the dash to check the switch.

It's hard to believe both are burned out at the same time ... the previous owner says he's never used them, only put 4k miles on the car over the last 5 years. Can someone confirm that if one foglight bulb is out both will not come on and the switch will be dark when it's pulled out?

Are your high beams working? At least one high beam bulb must be intact for the fog lamp relay to energize and supply power to the fog lamps.

Also, on US/Canada/Japan cars, the fog lamps are extinguished when the highbeams are on.

High beams are working ... and I was looking for the fogs to be on when the low beams were on.

Bad switch, perhaps?

This problem just happened to me tonight. Just to be clear, I'm talking about my rear fog lights. I checked the fuse, replaced it, and it still doesn't work. Can anyone shed any light on this? (sorry...)

Yes - rear fog lights. It's the pull switch immediately next to the ciggy lighter. There are two rear fog lights that sit on the "inside" of the rear brake lights next to the reverse lights... The pull switch backlights up when off, but when you pull the switch, the backlighting goes out... and the lights at the back don't work. I'm surprised that both rear fog lights would go out at the same time...

Are you thinking of the reverse lights.

Euro spec cars have rear fog lights (probably because Europeans actually experience fog).

Vic, It could easily be that both your foglight bulbs are dead. Happened to me...

Nice one Pedro! Thought it was a "euro thing".
I've seen it on Robin's (great) site, sometime ago.
But totaly forgot to look for it there.
