Default cup 2 wheel caps

Picked up a set of 'carrera 4' wheel caps from a Rennlister and put them on the C4 today. Much cleaner look with the cup 2 wheels IMO and the best $50 I have spent on the car. Two surprises - 1) had to remove the wheels to pop the original Porsche crested caps out as they had no removal holes (and I was not going to try to pry them out), and 2) those things are heavy! >300 g which is probably more than an entire set of Porsche aluminum or rennline Ti lug nuts. The plastic C4 caps weigh nothing by comparison. Not saying this is a meaningful difference in unsprung mass, just surprising to me that a wheel cap could weigh that much. The originals are safely packed in bubble wrap and in storage, probably forever.

I think those particular metal caps are actually 'later' than the 993 - i.e. they were supplied by Porsche in the 9x6 years. If you can find the earlier metal caps, with a 928 part number, not only do they look gorgeous, but they may weigh less. I'll dig a few out and weigh the different types

But I agree, you can't beat the plastic ones for weight, and the silver 'colour' matches the wheels so much better.

The key question is: how well are the emblems glued on. I’ve gone through 2 sets of caps at $50 each over my ownership.

if anyone knows where to get replacement emblems I could start a side business
