There's always this method. Two plugs cut from delrin rod and inserted on either side of the strap.

I'm sure it would aid as well in preventing the issue before it occurs.

Brilliant. Thanks!
As long as the strap mount is still attached somewhat at it's base, that should help a lot.
I'm a big fan of fixing things right, but a reversible "hack" like that just suits me fine...at least for the winter.

Interesting - any idea what the actual color is? Ad just states dark blue. This car isn't the car for me, but when I saw the pic of the door check strap with such low mileage I was curious what happened and if this is normal. Sounds like something I should add to the PPI inspection list when I find the right car.

There are cars with 15k miles that have had this issue! If high wind or a careless individual throws open the door with force it can easily happen! My car had 27k miles on it when I fixed the issue! This is well known to Porsche and over the years have refused to acknowledge the problem! Amazed that there wasn’t a Class Action Lawsuit filed!

Yes, done from behind, some go through the footwell side to get to it.
I have eve seen where a small weld to the underside of the pivot is made on the A pillar jamb facia that is not visible although I would not take that approach.

Spa indeed! I hear that they are so busy that they are several months out. Crazy, but the price you pay for quality and reputation.
Full disclosure: one of my friends owns Coventry Motorcar, and he sells a fair amount of Porsches, including the broken 997 that he "tricked" me into buying from him...for which I will be forever grateful. He knows most of the local guys including Musante and Canton. And suggested that I check in with both of them for a fix.

Sounds like the proctology approach - lol. Sounds like we are in agreement that there is no shame in a small, nicely welded scar. Going in from behind seems to be the best repair. My car is nice, but it's not a concourse car.

The previous owner told me it was just called Blue......it is a great looking clean car in person....he traded it for a 2011 GTS cab plus some cash...the door check was the only thing I spotted as an issue with the car.....he sorted out the car pretty well and had it for several years....

When i was there a few weeks ago to discuss the project, place had plenty of work that is for sure. Just need to get on the schedule, taking the car up there in the winter is not my idea of fun

Thank you, I was thinking the same, but couldn't tell for sure. Is there supposed to be a gap on both sides - is that how you could tell? So, if this was your car, what would you do?

well as you can see above on what I had done to mine…… I am OCD x10 so that’s what I would do if it was mine.
