Default Fast blinking turn signal

This is often indicates a burned out bulb. Recently, however, one side was blinking fast and I couldn't find a defective bulb or blown fuse. Inserting new bulbs made no difference. A further oddity was that the small outboard side marker light (wedge-base bulb) in the rear was blinking instead of the normal turn signal.

The problem occurred after the taillight assemblies and rear bumper cover had been removed during a shop repair. Upon close inspection, the connectors for the outboard side marker light and the turn signal light (in the middle postion of the taillight module) are identically shaped and the wiring colors are similar. When the tech reinstalled the taillights and bumper cover, the left side outboard and center connectors were inadvertently switched between these two bulb locations. It was easily corrected by switching the two leads and I now have plenty of spare bulbs.

If the wiring harness plugs to the corner lamp housing sockets get reversed this can happen. Unplug and switch the pigtail wires between the two lamp sockets

Jim you should consider upgraded LED bulbs, twice as bright as stock ones. Be seen, as our cars are tiny vs SUV and pickups.

I've posted this before:
I placed Tore's amber bulbs in my rear directional housings. Despite the same red plastic lenses, not Euro Amber, these LED's show bright amber when activated. Easier to see us.
This swap was Tore's suggestion.

As my eyes get older, I'm all in favor of visibility: See and be seen. Did you purchased his item #11301 or just the rear turn signal bulbs (and flash relay?)?

Default Dual Fast Blinking Signal

Thank you for your post! My problem matched your’s perfectly. Body work on the rear fender and both left and right turn signal lights were blinking fast. I showed the body shop after they delivered the car and they suggested bad bulbs. I knew that couldn’t be it.

I easily swapped the cables in the middle and far end of each tail light…just as you detailed…both sets of lights returned to normal. Three minute repair! Thank you!

As a related toppic.
I upgraded the center high stop light with Tore's LED kit & and a flashing module. Major enhancement where folks can really see my stoplights now.

Glad it was helpful.

About a year ago I also installed Tore’s LED taillight upgrade as mentioned earlier in this string. It provides a nice improvement in brightness.
