Default How is Hagerty when making a claim?

After shopping around, the best agreed value insurance I can get is with Hagerty - ($150K agreed for $800/year).

I am planning on switching in January.

Has anyone very used them to make a claim?

If so what was your experience?

Where do you live? 800 sounds reasonable for 150k coverage.Hagerty charges 1100 for 110k coverage on mine ...which I should raise. I live in ca. I haven't made a claim but hear that Hagerty is very customer oriented vis a vis claims.

I live in Western NY in a rural area near Niagara Falls.

Never had an insurance claim.

clean license

I own 4 cars

60 y.o

This is what they quoted me for 3,000 miles of use a year.

I tried Safeco, Pure, Hagerty, State Farm, Leyland West (American Collectors) and a few others.

They were all close to $1,750

From what I can tell, Hagerty is good.

I suspect rates are going up due to claims that weren't so much of an issue in the past, but are today - more wildfires, more flooding, worsening weather extremes. These companies too a bit hit from Katrina.

Hagerty wanted like $3,500 a year for me in Colorado at $100K agreed value... I am 32 years old though but a clean record so it must be a age or location?

Yes - age, location and driving record have some things to do with it.

$800/yr for $150k -- you should jump on it. Hagerty charges me $2500/yr for that same $ guaranteed value, though at the price I also get (what's left of) the car should it be totalled.

As market prices continue to rise, thus pushing traditional market and agreed values, short of theft, will be interesting to see if it becomes harder to "total" these cars.

Labor and parts are also increasing, but "prices" changing hands of late appear to be rising faster.

Would be an interesting stat on the number of 993's making it to CoParts of the past few years to see if there is a trend (i.e. repairs vs totals) (2 currently - one a flood car)

If you crash your car and worry that it might be a total, wait a few months for prices to rise before making a claim. Value should come up enough to make it economically feasible to fix instead of total.
If the car is so bad that you are sure it will still be a total in six months (AKA $20k the way prices are going now - lol) just buy a replacement immediately then start the claim when prices rise a couple of tens of thousands.
;-)

Edit add:
<removes tongue from cheek> I've heard of other folks with totaled cars having to fight hard to get enough money for a replacement. Insurance companies are acclimated (don't want to acknowledge?) the value spike in used cars and are low-balling claims based on dated info.
Make sure your cars (not just your 993, any car eligible) is on an agreed value and that your value is up to date!!

Default Hagerty

I just received a quote. Price quite high. Value quite Low like $30,000 Low. Get an appraisal

I think they want Users who sit in the garage and stare at their cars
2. Who only drive on sunny days and
3. Drive really Low annual mileage.
Are they still in the insurance business?
Maybe ok for a collector ? But some people actually want to drive their 911.
False Advettisers if u ask me

I tried Hagerty out of interest after reading this thread. I am with Leland West currently. Hagerty quoted me $7500 for $200k valuation. I am 45 with excellent credit and live in Scottsdale. Seems a tad high...

Default Hagerty tends to be high

In my experience, Hagerty premiums are high relative to other companies. I don’t have any claims experience with Hagerty but I would expect the best possible service/experience for those rates.

My Bad - the quote I got was from Grundy, not Hagerty.

Grundy was $800, Hagerty was > $1,700

There is not a lot of consistency in quotes among different companies.

Last year I switched AAA companies for home, auto, and umbrella and saved @ 50%

Found this, so I'll go with Grundy

this makes sense. i also have a Hagerty policy and the norm is typically around $1000 per $100,000 insured.
i like Hagerty due to the writing in their policies that allows certain driving that is not allowed at all in others - like Grundy, iirc.
