Hello all,
I'm looking at buying a high miles 95 Coupe to convert to race/de car. Thanks to Berkley for the lead I have located one candidate in Kansas and I'm in negotiations with the seller. I searched ofcourse here and the Internet and found two places under Porsche dealers:
Schoefield auto plaza in Witchita and Sunflower motors in Topeka.
The seller is around this area in Salina Kansas. Both dealers seem to be primarily VW and Audi dealers. Does anyone else know of these dealers or any other place in these two cities so I can do a PPI on the car???
TIA
Happy NEW YEAR!!!

Well, by Kansas standards, Salina is fairly close to either Wichita or Topeka, but it's well over a hundred miles either direction.
(The day I left Wichita after spending two years there was a very happy day for me.)
I can't recommend anybody in Topeka, except to say that I am familiar with the Porsche dealer there and it's pretty much staffed with a bunch of bozos. I'm doubtful that the service department would be much better.
The dealer in Wichita is better -- Scholfield -- but they lack a real Porsche specialist there, or at least two years ago they were sending their Jaguar mechanic to Porsche classes. Unfortunately, he's getting trained on 996 and 986 cars (and now the Cayenne, no doubt) which doesn't leave a lot of experiences on the 993, and Porsches are somewhat rare in Wichita (if you want to see a hail-damaged Comet, however, you will be in heaven there).
If you can get the car to Wichita, I recommend that you contact Mo at Best Mechanical Work in downtown Wichita (such as it is). He's real knowledgeable about 928s, has experience with 911s (including my former Turbo) and I would trust him to do a PPI.
Mo Zahr 510 E. First St. Wichita, KS 67202 (316) 263-7600
Good luck with your purchase.

PS -- Our good friend Michael's business partner, Stephen Kaspar, is in Kansas City, on the Kansas side (Olathe, I think), which isn't a whole lot further from Salina than Topeka is. He may be able to recommend someone that way. You can contact him through Imagine Auto's website.
