No affiliation with bmi but I found them cheap and good on flights Brussels - Edinburgh - LHR last week and on other trips. I traveled a lot with 3 kids in Europe, and for the right price, I would fly to Edinburgh or Paris rather than take a 10 month old on a train. Second the Cotswolds - went to school in Cirencester, but Bibury is one of best. If you are not used to driving on the other side, get a modest rental car... Unless RS Man in Scotland or Monique would loan you their RS :-)
