Unfortunately those engineers had to build a version that satisfied US DOT bumper height & head lamp beam angle restrictions (to say nothing of exploding pillows and on & on)........so, only comment I'd make is the OE U.S. cars are way up in the air (ready for off-road use)...on the upside, it's legal and easy to rectify (in the U.S.)....just my opinion.

Mark,

As mentioned already, there were numerous compromises made to the set up of the 993 in order to comply with regulations as well as please the mass market.

In terms of looks, I am one of those that likes to keep things relatively stealth. But I really feel that the suspension of the 993 was compromised. For example, I just installed the M030 ROW full suspension with Bilstein HD shocks, but rather than lower the car, utilised the height adjustment on the HD's to set it to original ROW stock height, instead of the M030 height so it still rides pretty darn high. The end result is a 993 that looks completely original (bar the RUF 18 inch rims), but handles so much better around the twisties.

And believe me, you can really feel the vast improvement of the M030 suspension upgrade on the streets unless you are a very passive driver.

But after all is said and done, if the body roll etc doesn't bother you, stick with the original set up, it still runs better than most cars on the street.

Until reading this post I thought I had a stock 993. But thanks to Ray, I now get to count my hard wired V1 with remote display mounted in the ash tray as a mod. Cool! I have mods! But I'm not a crack junkie yet <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Isn't that called a Swamp Monster or something?

As an outsider, I would say that dcpmark wins the mods competition, and he has managed to convince himself that he really isn't doing any mods....amazing! Good work fella!

LOL!! You know, the original poster was talking about PERFORMANCE mods.......

And to Maurice, if you can say that Litronics LOOK cooler at night, then it would be a cosmetic change......after all, Litronics don't make the car go faster or handle better......

Okay, okay........I'm in denial........
