Question difference between N0 and N1 tires?

I have to replace my rear tires as they are at the wear bars...

I need Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 to match my front tires which have well over 60 % tread left.
I called several local tire shops and received mixed messages.... one says they are discontinued?? One says he can get them... I then called Tire Rack and the rep says they have N0 tires in stock, but the N1's are on extended backorder?? Both are the Pilot SX MXX3 tires in the 255/40ZR17 size I require.

What would the difference be? I don't want to mix tread designs, and I don't wish to discard my perfectly good front tires at this point...
Thanks!!
Peter.

Hi Peter

A reasonable discussion on N spec here -

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...al/porsche.jsp

Get same ratings if you can, but don't lose too much sleep over it! But with PSS9 etc, a better tyre might be nice ......

Cheers, Maurice

Thanks for the redirect Maurice...

Appears that I have N-1's front/back on my car now and will receive N-0's for the rear replacement. Would have been nice to gain a match, but "extended backorder" isn't something I can wait on.

When they wear out I should be ready for a 4 tire set....of whatever folks in here recommend

thanks, Peter.
